I recently bought a refurbished ThinkPad (T500) with Win 10 home preinstalled. And a few days ago, I tried to install Office XP 2002 Pro on it with CDs. But for some reason, the DVD-RW fails to detect a disk in the tray, whether I try to run it from the laptop's internal DVD drive or with an external usb drive. So, using a different laptop (a ThinkPad T60 with Win 7 Home Premium), I opened the CDs and copied their contents to a thumb drive. And when trying to install it on the T500 (with Setup.exe configured to Win XP SP III compatibility), it reported file corruption and failed to install.
How can I fix that setup and let Office XP take the place of Apache OpenOffice?
Can Office XP only be Win 10 compatible if it was installed on Win 7 before upgrading to Win 10? It installed and runs ok on my Gateway Netbook that was upgraded from Win 7 to Win 10.
